Jan F Sherbak, PsyD, Clinical Director

Dr. Sherbak is a licensed clinical psychologist and the Clinical Director and co-founder of Solace. She founded Solace with a colleague in 1995 when they recognized a large gap in treatment options searching for the appropriate level of care for their patients struggling with eating disorders. In addition to treating individuals with eating disorders, she maintains a private practice where she provides an interpersonal and cognitive/behavioral approach in treating both adolescents and adults with other mental health and life transitional issues. She is also Area Coordinator for the Eating Disorder Coalition of Tennessee (EDCT), a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), past President of Chattanooga Area Psychological Association (CAPA), and a long-standing member of many professional organizations throughout the country. She is currently working on several research projects focused on outcomes of treatment.

 

Susan E Hickman, PhD, PsyD, Administrator

Dr. Hickman holds a PhD from the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota and a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. Her interests include therapeutic interventions as well as research-based activities. Dr. Hickman’s current private practice interests include assessment and diagnosis (across age and diagnostic categories), eating disorders, emotional disturbance related to obesity, and adult recovery of childhood abuse. Although Dr. Hickman offers individual therapy, she is also interested in family processes relevant to these disorders.

 

Pamela C Kelle RD CDE LDN

Pam has a passion for working with those who suffer from eating disorders. She has been involved in the field of dietetics for 15 years and has concentrated her work with eating disorders for the last 10 years. Mrs. Kelle has certifications in both Adult Weight Management and Diabetes education. She is a board member for the MCR foundation in Chattanooga, a founding member of the Eating Disorder Coalition of Tennessee and maintains professional memberships in all national and international associations dedicated to the eating disorder field. She maintains a private practice and often works individually with those with eating disorders or other weight related issues.

 

Janka Livoncova

Janka graduated from the Tennessee Institute of Healing arts in Chattanooga, and is currently studying Ortho-bionomy with Scott O’Shea. She brings to her bodywork practice an extensive background in meditation and movement therapies, including dance and yoga. As a certified Yoga instructor, she teaches body awareness/movement classes for the Solace program.


 

Jas Milam

Jas Milam is an art therapy intern who believes in healing through the creative process. She has experience with children, teens and adults in areas of addiction, recovery, spirituality and personal growth. Jas has also worked with special populations at Hosanna House, Chattanooga Cares and Siskin Children's Institute. She continues making her own art at the Rivoli Art Mill in East Lake, currently painting expressive abstract watercolors.

 

Susan O'Hara

Dr. Susan O’Hara was one of the co-founders of Solace along with Dr. Jan Sherbak. Dr. O’Hara recently retired after 25 years of clinical psychology practice, much of which focused on the treatment of eating disorders. She continues to facilitate a group for Solace which uses art materials to teach emotional expression. Dr. O’Hara is also a stained glass artist who enjoys traveling, gardening and needlework.
